I agree that the target, walmart Angelina are not well made and I think rather ugly. I don't know what is about them but I LOVE the AG ones. We have a lot of it between ebay and the clearance stuff on the website last year.

My DD is 5. She plays with it all, so does my not yet 2 year old. However they are nice enough for a 8 year old, and the books are actually a bit complex for my 5 year old, they are pretty long.

It really depends on the childs interest. If you flower girl likes ballet I think it could be nice. If you can get a set with alice and or poly too that is fun (maybe Henery, he is pretty cheap too.)
